About Dr. Wetegrove-Romine

I get it. I’m a recovering perfectionist, too. I was so hyperfocused on the “hustle” that it caused a strain in my relationships and left me feeling lonely, anxious and close to burnout. I combine my personal experience with professional expertise to help clients understand that perfectionism and control, while helpful in some stages in life (like grad school or when working on an intense project) are creating problems for them as they set out as early career professionals balancing work, life, caregiving, self-care, and relationships.

I typically work with womxn in high demand, deadline driven fields. They tend to be overly-ambitious and growth-oriented. I use mindfulness and teach self-compassion while also helping you keep your edge. I also focus on undoing the damage that cultural messages and unrealistic demands have caused.

Clients often report that the practical tools (like setting boundaries and prioritizing values over busy work) they learn in just a short time working with me are instrumental in giving them more freedom to pursue what’s important to them outside of work, like dating, improving family relationships, carving out time for a new hobby or self-care activity, and becoming a more engaged parent and partner. I walk alongside you (literally, because it’s hike therapy!) as you do the hard work, both mental and physical. I am genuinely invested in helping each client I work with find freedom.

I’m trained in brief therapy and help clients make significant changes quickly. I believe life is too short to be stuck in therapy forever! I maintain a solution-focused mindset, helping you make small changes that lead to big transformations. Each of us carries unique strengths, but stressors such as trauma, loss, changes in relationships, shifts in career, and medical and mental health diagnoses can present new challenges. I have a keen eye for uncovering clients’ strengths and helping them harness them.

Being outdoors highlights our resiliencies, too. That's why I take therapy on the trail! While I offer virtual sessions, I prefer getting clients outdoors. Being in nature is linked to lower levels of stress hormones, increased attentiveness, decreased rumination, and improvements in mood. It has personally helped me move through grief and anxiety, and I guide clients in using the outdoors strategically to get the best results.
